What is the Range on the 2024 Kia EV9?

Get Where You Want to Go in the Kia EV9

The 2024 Kia EV9 is the first reasonably priced three-row fully electric SUV for sale in the United States. This roomy electric vehicle is loaded with features that drivers want, especially a lengthy range, and is ideal for daily driving and road trips.

The Lupient Kia of Brooklyn Park team has been helping drivers from Bloomington to St. Paul learn about the benefits of driving an electric vehicle. They can show you how to switch from gas to electric and how easy it is to charge at home and on the road.

How to Get the Most Range From the EV9

The Kia EV9 Light is the entry-level trim with a 76.1-kWh battery pack. With rear-wheel drive, the Light delivers 215 horsepower. The Kia EV9 Light Long Range also has RWD but has a bigger 99.8-kWh battery pack. You’ll see 201 horsepower and an EPA-estimated 304 miles of range.

The long-range battery pack is the rest of the trims: the Wind, Land, and GT-Line. These top trims all come standard with dual-motor all-wheel drive and a combined horsepower of 379 and 516 lb-ft of torque. The Wind trim gets an EPA-estimated range of 280 miles. Thanks to the 21-inch wheels on the EV9 Land and GT-Line trims, they get an EPA-estimated range of 270 miles.

You can maximize driving range by using the EV9’s drive modes. The Kia EV9 Light and Light Long Range have four drive modes: Sport, Eco, Normal, and “My Mode.” The other trims have the same modes, plus Snow mode. Eco mode uses the least power, while still delivering a peppy driving experience.

In town, you can also maximize range by using the regenerative braking paddles on the steering wheel. Regenerative braking returns energy to the battery when decelerating. While on the highway, the Adaptive Cruise Control system maximizes range, so there are battery-saving options for all types of driving.

Innovative Charging Capability in the EV9

Kia has some of the fastest-charging EVs on the market today. The 10.9-kW onboard charger lets the EV9 fill up in 7 to 9 hours with a Level 2 charger. The fastest way to charge an EV9 is with a 350-kW DC fast charger. When the weather is moderate and the charging station works correctly, the EV9 with the 99.8-kWh battery can go from 10% to 80% in as little as 24 minutes. The Kia EV9 Light short-range only needs about 20 minutes for the same charging level.

The charging port can also work as a V2L (Vehicle-to-Load) port thanks to the bi-directional charging. You can use the EV9 as a power generator.
